Job Description:
The Assistant Pool Manager assists the Pool Manager in the overall functioning of the city swimming pool. This is a supervisory role, which involves a clear understanding of pool maintenance and safety measures. The role also includes the management, training, and supervision of subordinates, promotion of aquatic activities, and customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- During the absence of the Pool Supervisor, supervises the part-time pool operations staff, to include scheduling and assignment of duties.
- Oversees the collection of all fees, prepares daily records of receipts and deposits in accordance with City policies.
- Assists with facility maintenance and submits pertinent records in respect to daily patron admissions and revenue, sanitary water conditions (chlorine and pH readings), accidents, rescues, and assists, and first aid.
- Assists with the planning, direction, scheduling, supervision, and evaluations for the staff and the volunteers in the conduct of instructional swimming programs, and competitive and special events.
- Assists with the maintenance and operation of the lighting, filtration, sanitation, and overall safety of the facility.
- Attends staff meetings as requested.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Makes decisions regarding refusal of patrons with health problems, intoxications, “controlled substances,” and bathing attire according to the Aquatic Facility Policy.
- Informs the Pool Manager when supplies are needed, or equipment needs repair or replacement.
- Enforces the aquatic center rules as listed in the staff manual, Facility Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Sets a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow.
- Serves as essential emergency personnel when required.
- Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned by the Pool Manager.
- Education: Previous lifeguard experience preferred
- Knowledge of:. operation of a swimming pool, including sanitation, maintenance, safety, and public relations; swimming pool cash management operations and record keeping; principles, practices and application of lifesaving and first aid techniques; emergency services available; rules and regulations pertaining to the pool use.
- Safety/Physical Requirements: Medium - Tasks involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and or using a force equal to lifting 50 lbs.
- Certifications & Licenses Required: Minimum two (2) seasons of lifeguarding experience. Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification or the equivalent thereof and/or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification. Head Lifeguard/Supervisory experience.
