City Engineer – Development

This position is supervised by the Planning Director.  Job duties include, performing professional engineering work for private and public development projects by working with developers, contractors, and consulting engineers as well as coordinating with various state and local agencies to ensure compliance with city codes, ordinances, and processes. Providing technical support, information and guidance to property owners, developers, staff, other city departments, outside agencies, elected and appointed officials, and the public by utilizing a problem-solving, collaborative approach to ensure a successful development process.

Providing excellent customer service and a solutions-based approach while assisting the development community, business owners, and residents through the development process.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a closely related field. Five (5) years of progressive responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of municipal planning experience. Or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted. Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas or ability to obtain license within twelve (12) months of hire, and a valid Texas driver’s license.
